The free flow of power

9. The potential for greatness in any group is predicated on the free flow of power.

Power in an organization is either contained or it is freely flowing among group members. Power can be stifled by an atmosphere of fear, by strictly defined roles, by low morale and other influences. In order to function optimally, members of an organization must have the intellectual and spiritual capacity – and the willingness – to regularly influence one another in an effective way. If this does not happen, individual members may be strong but the group will be weak. True openness to being influenced is the beginning of learning something new. This is the basis for growth and accomplishment.
