Influence on each other is encouraged when certain conditions are created.
Leaders have a great deal of influence in modeling and creating the following behaviors: (1) group members are speaking and acting with openness about their observations, thoughts, feelings and desires, (2) group members actively pursue the meaning of other group members when they speak (they listen well to each other) and (3) individuals are truly open to being changed by new information. These behaviors create a “felt sense†in the group that it is not only safe but vital.
